A comprehensive inspection and testing exercise was undertaken across two animal husbandry sites operated by SM Pigs, with the objective of producing Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) on the fixed wiring systems.
The scope of work included testing approximately 350 electrical circuits, distributed across 35 distribution boards. The environments inspected ranged from Office and Administrative areas to breeding pens and holding enclosures, requiring particular attention to Section 705 and Section 7 of BS 7671, considering the increased risks in agricultural settings.
Given the live operational nature of the farms, the work presented significant logistical and safety challenges, particularly in terms of safeguarding the animals and minimising disruption to farm routines. Through close coordination with the Farm Manager and adherence to a pre-agreed action plan, inspections were carried out safely and efficiently.
